Georgia Recovers Community Impact Committee (CIC) members, Keya and Jimbo, share tips that have helped them cope with grief and loss during the holidays.

1. Practice self-care when grieving. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and enough sleep can help strengthen you emotionally.

2. Lean on your support system. Don't underestimate the power of connecting for support. Whatever and wherever that looks like for you, it will be the strength you need to share experiences and feel understood.

3. Build on family traditions. Honoring cherished traditions of loved ones that have passed while creating new ones with family allows you to celebrate their memory. It is an opportunity to make peace with the happy and bittersweet memories.

Kristen shares her story to stand up for others with substance use disorder. When people like Kristen bravely talk about their experiences, it helps others see their humanity and feel more welcome in their communities.

Through her recovery journey, Kristen discovered that her support network is bigger than she ever imagined. In the past, she found it hard to ask for help. But now, she knows she has many people she can count on who will step up when she needs them. Now, Jocelyn is the Executive Director of the Never Alone Clubhouse and a big part of the Georgia recovery community, and she's never forgotten the congresswoman's kindness that helped set her on her path.
